In 2017, I was invited to Meisenthal France by my friends at Wanted Design and The Trans-Atlantic Creative Exchange, an organization pairing American designers with French manufacturing partners and visa-versa. I spent a week at the Centre International D’Art Verrier (CIAV) working with their team to explore new glass-blowing processes.
Expanding on my Ice-Cast Bronze research, I chose to incorporate ice into what is an otherwise typically extremely hot process.
The experimentation resulted in a small collection using two new processes; blowing hot glass into carved-ice molds and injecting freezing cold water into the interior of molten hot glass forms.
The work was exhibited at Galerie Joseph during Paris Design Week, curated by Wanted Design, Maison et Object and Triode Paris.
