The Fishbone Sculptures are created through the lost-wax casting process to create thin, skeletal forms that challenges existing assumptions around the heaviness of cast metals. The first pieces were small wall-hung objects created from hand carved thin wax elements. The objects are hung from the curved center portion allowing the majority of the sculpture to “float” away from the wall to create a certain weightless presence.
Typically commissioned as site specific sculptures, I am interested in their potential to occupy any vertical space and to grow to any scale.
